Welcome to Infectious Diseases Associates of Central Virginia.
We understand the difficulties one faces when dealing with an infectious disease. Our board certified Infectious Diseases specialists, nurse practitioners and competent support staff consider it a privilege to assist those in need of their care. We invite you to spend a few moments to browse through our website to learn about our practice and our efforts to provide patients with the best care possible.
We offer care for all areas of Infectious Diseases with specialized knowledge in immunology, epidemiology & infection control. We also offer HIV/AIDS management through our ID Clinic. We also have full laboratory services on site. We serve a diverse population with multiple infectious disease needs.
Our physicians and staff want to work with you to provide you with the best care possible. We want to partner with you so that you have clear understanding of your illness and the treatment options best suited for you.
We always strive to provide you with up-to-date, prompt care in a friendly and compassionate atmosphere. We are continually working to improve the services offered to our patients and are always open to suggestions for making our relationship with you and your healthcare experience a positive one.

We participate with most Anthem of Virginia Policies, Cigna, Medicare, Medicaid,
Piedmont Community Health Plan & Tricare.

Please call the customer service number on you card to find out for certain if we
participate with your particular plan.

It is the patients responsibility to be aware of the specific details regarding their own
insurance policies.

We request co-payments at the time of your visit.

INFECTIOUS DISEASES CENTER OF CENTRAL VA.
*An organization of independent service providers, Medical
Associates of Central Virginia, Inc. & Centra Health.
We provide management services of infectious diseases including HIV/AIDS to adult clients. Our staff includes experienced, board certified Infectious Diseases physicians, family nurse practitioners, ACRN (Clinical Coordinator), nurses and technicians. In addition, a case manager, grants assistant and office staff are available. Substance abuse counseling is available on site by referral.
We offer a broad range of medical care services for adult clients with infectious diseases, including:

Management of HIV/AIDS
•
Diagnosis and treatment of illnesses and infections
•
Substance abuse counseling
•
Financial screening and eligibility counseling for grants or other financial
resources for medical bills
•
Referral services for dental care
•
Referral services for pastoral care, social work, nutritional support, or
other area services
•
Case management services
•
Patient education classes
•
Support group for family and friends in partnership with Central Virginia
Community Services
•
Support group for persons living with HIV in partnership with the Lynchburg
Community Action Group
•
HIV waiver services for nutritional supplement, personal care, and/or nursing
home placement
•
Education regarding HIV to community groups as requested
•
We are part of the Coalition for HIV Awareness and Prevention of Central Virginia
(CHAP), which networks community agencies to provide balanced care to
infected/affected people in Central Virginia
•
Referral to state ADAP for assistance in obtaining HIV/AIDS medication,
if necessary

Payment & Insurance:
We participate with most Anthem of Virginia Policies, Cigna Medicare, Medicaid, Southern Health, United Healthcare, Aetna, Piedmont Community Health Plan & Tricare. Our office also takes FAMIS and Ryan White Title II funds. If you have financial needs or are uninsured, our Grants Assistant will review your financial and insurance information to assist you in applying for any funding or assistance you may be eligible for.
Your medical bill is your responsibility. Please keep our office informed if you have a change insurance, or your income or financial situation changes. If you qualify for Ryan White Title II funding, an annual update is required to determine continued eligibility.

Gifts for HIV/AIDS prevention and Care:
Gifts may be sent to Centra Health Foundation and earmarked for the Infectious Diseases Center. Gifts received will be used for community education for HIV/AIDS prevention and care, or used
for indigent clients with no other source of payment for medical expenses. It's as easy as writing a check, and you can deduct 100 percent of the gift amount from your federal income tax. Please contact Kathryn M. Pumphrey, executive vice president, (434) 947-4791 for more information.
